I've been mixing and matching my killstreaks for the best setup so that I can reach the 12 killstreak on the most consistent basis. I think the predator is a great place to start for me. I'm a very aggressive player, so I tend to be a bit streaky. But after the predator is where I can't decide what is best for me.

I would think the optimal setup would be 7-9-12, but I believe that I should be getting my initial killstreak multiple times in a game, and that wouldn't occur with that setup. Running hardline, I have no problem getting the predator, especially on domination, but setting up my setup from there has got me frustrated.

I initally thought the attack helicopter would be the best (5-7-12), but I believe as the community of this game has progressed, the attack helicopter is rarely around long enough to do enough help to be a feasible option. I'd almost advocate using the precision airstrike at 6 instead if I'm going that route. The airstrike is almost always another kill, and sometimes 2-3 kills based on placement and of course, it cannot be shot down.

Right now, I'd have to say that the 5-9-12 is a great setup, with the Reaper. The AH-Overwatch is also a great option if I want to continue to stay on the offensive.

So what are your thoughts? Should I continue with 5-9-12, or should I just not worry about the AC-130 if I'm not getting it almost every game? I just really like that killstreak (ever since MW2), and would love to continue using it.

If I'm unable to reach the 12 killstreak on a consistent basis, I'm going to go back to 5-6-9. Thanks.

When I play with my assault package and I run the Pave Low I run Predator Missile and Attack Helicopter. That usually suffices quite well and I end up getting my Pave Low a lot. You will be surprised at how long attack helicopters can stay up in the air in many lobbies. Trust me.

IMO, the easiest way to get AC130s is to use Predator - Strafe Run/AH6 - AC130, so I suggest you to use it ;)

When i'm going for high kill games I run 6/9/12 (I use a lot of hardline pro so 5/8/11). Precision Airstrike/Reaper/AC-130 or Pavelow.
The Precision Airstrike is way underrated IMO, if you are patient with it and place it well you can easily get 2 or 3 kills with it and move on to the reaper.

Reaper is a must for the 9 spot it's super easy to get a quick 3 kills with it to move on to your final pointstreak.

Now AC-130 vs Pavelow.
AC-130 is defenatly more fun to use, and is controlable so if you are play Domination for instance you can still protect flags against blindeye users.
Pavelow seems to have the potential for more kills if not shot down because not only is it doing work but you can still be gunning yourself to increase your kill count/concentrate on the objective.

Predator - Reaper - Pavelow.
Once you get the Pred it basically guarantees at least a kill, sometimes if your lucky it'll lead directly to your Reaper. Reaper is basically guarantees at least 5 kills if your on the right map (*Cough* Village)

The two setups I use for AC-130/Pavelow
Predator, Reaper, Pavelow (Hardline PRO helps alot here)
Predator, Attack Helicopter, AC-130 (Hardline not so necessary)

I've played around alot with the setups when the game first released and realized a few things. At the 9 killstreak slot, Reaper outclasses othera. Strafe Run not worth it due to attracting easy enemy pointstreaks and AH-6 disappoints often, I only use it when I'm using a shotgun w/o Specialist. Assault Drone is a viable choice over Reaper, but the 1 extra kill is a turn off. Overall these are the two best setups for that 12 killstreak reward.

you guys are doing well - anything above 9 curses my game to a KDR of about 1 and no kill streaks ... where if i run 5-6-7 then i rape. cant figure that out.

also, agree that heli is very likely to get more than nothing (unless i am on the other team).

disagree that pred is guaranteed anything - i have had a rush of nothing (average is actually 1.2 or something) lately, with someone shooting the guys I am about to hit or me being some sort of gumby for the miss

I ran pred, airstrike, reaper all weekend and got 36 reapers. i adjusted slightly to be pred, reaper, pavelow and got a pavelow first match. you need to be kind of lucky with the pred, to jump straight to reaper so figure you still have to get some gun kills. with that said, i would pick the ac130 over the pavelow because the pavelow gets shot down really easy because it's so close to the ground. mine got maybe 1 kill haha

The real trick is to know when to use AC 130 or the Pavelow. Some maps make it better to use one of the other. Got to love the large cliff on outpost or the huge skyscraper in Arkaden that blocks your shot ability.

OT: attack helicopters always seem to be 50/50. Sometimes they are shot down super faster, and other times they are up for half the game.

Is it possible to get Pavelow and AC130 from care packages dropped by the V-22 Osprey (Escort Airdrop)?

OP, you pretty much said all there is to say, really. Attak heli is a hit-or-miss, that can be poorly substituted by precision bombing. The reaper remains a must at 9, but even it can be shot down before getting you enough kills.

I just recently started trying to earn AC-130s myself. As everyone has discussed, the Reaper is a must. The Overwatch gives away your position, and the Strafe Run is a magnet for every missile on the map. So our options for the remaining slot are pretty much Predator, Air Strike, or Helicopter. As I see it, it doesn't much matter how many kills are required, because none of them is likely to kill more than two people anyway. So you're going to need 7 gun kills to get your Reaper (at least). With that in mind, I go for the Helicopter, since it doesn't require an extended period of user input. Basically, once I have 7 kills, I can instantly call the helicopter in, then carefully retreat to a safe position to await my Reaper. I find this works better than trying to hide after five kills, then needing to go hunt down another guy or three. The success of the Helicopter is dependent on how quickly the enemy can field Stingers, while the success of the Predator depends on how clustered they happen to be at that moment, and what part of the map I can see. I find the Helicopter more consistent, but I should mention that I almost always play TDM, so I guess other people might have more luck with the other two killstreaks.

Attack Helis still have huge potential to stay up for a while and garner free kills, although even a barely competent team will blow it up with missiles. I'd also say Precision Airstrikes are too inconsistent since people with half-decent ping and quick thinking can dodge them pretty fine. If you use them, though, it's always worth a try, since a well-placed one has a good chance of getting a kill.

Use the reaper upon getting 9 kills. If you act fast you can get 1-2 kills before the enemies react and try to blow it up.

Pred > Reaper > AC-130/Pavelow

You have to work a little bit to get to the Reaper from the Pred but it isn't that difficult to do. Scavenger and Hardline help out a lot. You also just gotta hope that there isn't someone on the other team willing to shoot stuff down at the first opportunity.

I usually run 5-7-12 because the jump from 5 to 9 can sometimes be a pain, whereas the jump from 5-7 is relatively easy. From 7 kills I usually get my AC130/Pavelow, unless it gets destroyed.

I use Predator > Reaper > AC130 on my stealth sniper class. Every time i call the AC130 in, there's someone crying nobody on his team has a Stinger. XD

Don't have much to say here except for use the Pave Low. AC-130 is useless in this game. With half the maps being almost enitrly buildings, AC-130, Reaper, and Osprey Gunner (which even of open maps is kinda' bad) are all just not worth it. To me, low Assault Streaks (and some low Support) are way better. Particularly Care Package. Call me a noob for using it, but with so many other noob things in this game, I don't see how an AC-130 from a Care Package is possible a huge issue.

Point is, low killstreaks are more forgiving than high ones.

I thinks the Care Package is underrated. OK, you get very often just an IMS, a UAV, or a Predator, but not only. I saw someone getting an Assault Juggernaut from it. I guess nobody wouldn't complaint from getting it with 5 kills once in a while...
