I found this on the IW forums:

http://www.infinityw...p?f=24&t=167264

• Navigate to the folder: 'program files\steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players' and open the file config_mp.cfg

• Change scoresping_interval from 100 to 20, and maxbars from 4 to 10 (10 is the max).

• This means that each of the 10 bars represents 20ms, with full green being 20ms or lower, and 1 red being 200ms or higher.

it's not sure if VAC will ban you for changing your config... :/

you change the config everytime you change a graphics setting or remap a key so you wont get banned at all.

- and max ping = "800" as default. EPIC IW FAIL there !.

Great find, Once again IW is trying to hide the truth from us. Making us think it's better then it actually is. They hid the actual ping numbers for this very reason. I have latency issues with 3 green bars. Will be nice to have a better judge of my connection now.

I LOVE this game more then COD4 but I still prey every night for dedi servers.

Changing the maxping doesn't do very much. I changed mine to 80 and I still get into games with people who have over 100 ping.

Interestingly, if you look at the default settings:
4 bars means anything under 100 ping
3 bars means 100-200
2 bars means 200-300
1 bar means anything over 300 ... ANYTHING...

so even in a game where everyone has 4 bars on the default scale, everyone could still be lagging...

changing maxping to 200 changed my nat type to strict, back to 800 and its open, i think its more to do with hosting games, but I then set my interval to 15, max packets to 100, and bars to 10 and it seems to be joining games with less lag, and is looking for games with <60 ping instead of 100 !!!!
